Chances are if you know anything about poker, you know what a card is. Some people love the Ace of spades. Others like the Queen of hearts. Every card in a standard deck is unique and beautiful in its own right.

History

Playing cards were found in China in the 9th century during the Tang Dynasty. Ancient cards had four suits and numerals from 2-9. As far as Europeans go, there is a good amount of evidence that playing cards came to Europe in the 13th century. The four suits now used in most of the world originated in France in approximately 1480.
