word type: poker slang

  1. To receive a card that completes a draw or more generally, improves your hand.
  2. A reference to when a player makes a call and exposes an opponent's bluff.

Example 1

If you have JT and the board is 78K, when you hit the 9 for the straight on the turn, it's referred to as "catching" a 9.

Example 2

When you make a hero call, you catch the opponent in a bluff.
