SCOOP

word type: acronym

  1. Spring Championship of Online Poker.

The inaugural SCOOP event began on April 2, 2009.

What it Is

The newest tournament series in online poker, created by PokerStars in 2009 as a counterpart to the WCOOP, the oldest major online poker series.

What Makes This Series Different From All the Rest?

The defining aspect of SCOOP that distinguishes it from the WCOOP and FTOPS is that three tournaments--at three different buyin levels--start simultaneously.

For example, SCOOP's first event was a 6-max rebuy tournament. The SCCOP-L was a $5+rebuy event, the SCOOP-M was a $50+rebuy event and high level event (SCOOP-H) was a $500+rebuy event. All three events began at 14:30 EST.

Most events follow this formula with a 10x multiplier between each buyin level per event. Buyins for the series range from $5 to $25,000.
