David Williams burst onto the poker scene during the 2004 WSOP Main Event where he finished as the runner up to Greg Raymer, but still collected $3,500,000 for his efforts. Four months later he finished runner up at the WPT Borgata Open and took in $573,800. Williams won his first bracelet 2006 in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event. Williams is a sponsored Bodog Pro.

Magic The Gathering Cheating Scandal

As ridiculous as it might sound, Williams was the center of a huge cheating scandal at the 2001 World Championships of Magic: The Gathering in Toronto. Judges found that Williams had bent specific cards in his deck to make it easier for him to cut the cards after his opponent had shuffled it. Williams was disqualified and barred from playing Magic: The Gathering tournaments for one year. During this time, Williams started to play high stakes Texas Hold'em.
