The Glorious Days are Gone
During the early part of the 21st Century, the USPC, one of the few $10K buyin events on the circuit, was considered one of the most prestigious poker tournaments around. It was well attended by all of the "big name" touring poker pros.
However, since the poker boom took off and $10K events became commonplace, ESPN has stopped broadcasting the event, and the Taj Mahal has stopped promoting the USPC effectively. As a result, the USPC has fallen by the wayside in terms of prestige and popularity.
