word type: noun
- An offshoot of the WSOP that began in 2005 when poker was at the height of its popularity. The WSOPC events were designed as miniature tournament series held at various Harrah's properties around the country culminating with a televised $10K buyin main event.
These days, the main events have been scaled down to a $5,000 buyin.
Although the WSOP-Circuit events were short lived as a televised poker entity, the events created many famous poker personalities such as Kido Pham, Doug Lee and Jean-Robert Bellande.
This clip from the ESPN broadcast of the WSOP-C event at Lake Tahoe in 2005 showcases a couple of interesting aspects of a crazy poker hand:
- Tommy Reed making an insanely bad laydown in the middle of the hand.
- David "The Dragon" Pham making a great call at the end of the hand.
