Ante Up for Africa was founded in 2007 and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Africans in need. According to the organization's website, the crisis in Darfur is entering its 6th year and the conflict has killed over 400,000 people. The organization states that, "Our hope is that through efforts like Ante Up For Africa, we can continue to keep the issue in the spotlight while providing real funds to support a brighter future for the people of Sudan."

PokerStars Ante Up for Africa tournament

As covered by Poker News Daily, the Ante Up for Africa tournament sponsored by PokerStars in April of 2009 raised €260,000. The event was held in Monaco on the eve of the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final.
