1. The amount of chips a player has in a poker tournament (as opposed to "stack size" in a cash game).

Chip counts are the most common and convenient way for poker media reporters to track the stack sizes of all the players in a poker tournament.

Players, too, think of their stack in terms of "chip count" and chipcounts are often discussed among peers during breaks in the tournament.
