Turbo tournaments are different from speed poker tournaments, because a speed poker tournament simply aims to create efficiency in the action without cutting down the amount of overall play.

On the other hand, the goal of a turbo tournament is generally to lessen the total time a tournament takes to complete by making the structure itself move more quickly. This is most commonly accomplished by shortening the length of time at each blind level.
