At one point in online poker history, PokerStars had the highest-stakes action and the biggest buy-in tournaments. Thus, it was the site most likely to eat up a bankroll. When someone would ask to borrow money on PokerStars, a typical response might have been, "Sorry, Brokerstars."

The term is somewhat antiquated now that players can lose their bankrolls more quickly and easily on Full Tilt Poker.
