High Card

word type: poker slang

  1. A hand value lower than one pair.
  2. The process of distributing cards from a 52-card deck in order to award something to the player with the highest card. E.g., "We are now high-carding for the button."

Famous High Card Incidents

Jim McManus calling Elix Powers with queen-high in a 2004 limit hold 'em event at the WSOP and then being taunted by Powers that "he called me with jack high."
