Hand Rankings for 'Straight-High' Games

In games such as Texas Holdem where the highest hand wins, hand rankings go as follows, from lowest to highest:

For Lowball Games

Generally, the best low hand in A-5 lowball or razz is the wheel, a straight, ace-five. In these types of games, players are trying to make five cards of the lowest possible order. In the rare cases when high hands are seen at showdown, the weaker high hand will win (so two pair would beat trips in razz).

In 2-7 lowball, straights and flushes count against a player. The best hand, the "wheel," is known as the No. 1 and consists of 7,5,4,3,2 and the second best hand is 7,6,4,3,2.

Similar to razz, one pair would beat two-pair or better, but seeing two such hands at showdown in a 2-7 game is a rare occurrence.
