  1. A straight draw (or four-card straight) that can be completed with eight cards from the deck.

Examples

Open-ended straight draws are more easily recognizable than their "double-gutter" counterparts, but equivalent in strength (each make a straight with eight cards from the deck.

For instance, QJ on a T9-x board is an open ended draw, since four kings and four eights will make the straight. 56 on a board of 43-x is the same type of hand, as four deuces and four sevens will complete the hand.
