Steve won his seat to the 2009 World Series of Poker in a local poker league and a percentage of his $1.5 million cash for 6th place will go to the other participants of the league. Prior to his big WSOP finish, Begleiter had no prior live tournament cashes to his name.

An interview with Steve Begleiter following his 6th place finish in the WSOP Main Event. Despite heading into final table play with the third biggest chipstack - trailing only Eric Buchman and Darvin Moon - Begleiter was ousted in 6th when his pocket queens failed to hold vs. Moon's AQ. Darvin Moon, who also eliminated Phil Ivey when his A-Q beat Phil's A-K, went on to finish 2nd, losing the heads-up match to Joe Cada.
