Moneymaker was an accountant who played poker on Pokerstars and won his seat into the WSOP Main Event by playing a $39 (USD) satellite tournament. Moneymaker went on to win the first prize of $2,500,000 and instantly became the most famous man in the world of poker. His win as an 'Average Joe' caused the Moneymaker Effect which is seen as the catalyst for the poker boom during the mid 1990s. Moneymaker has had a few notable finishes in the WSOP (but only the 1 final table) as well as several online tournament cashes.
