Brief Biography
Robert Varkonyi started playing poker as a student at M.I.T. and became an investment banker in Brooklyn, New York for a number of years. He is known for being the 2002 World Series of Poker Main Event winner and taking home a $2,000,000 first place prize. During the event Varkonyi was a total unknown and commentator Phil Hellmuth agreed to shave his head if Varkonyi won, which he lived up to after the victory. Since that time, he has become a columnist for Card Player Magazine and made an instructional video. He resides in New York with his wife Olga and two daughters.
