Gift

word type: poker slang

  1. When a poker player makes a glaring mistake in a hand, giving his opponent an easy win, it is considered a "gift."

Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth

One of the most perplexing things in poker games is when a fish in the game makes an obvious mistake that amounts to a "gift" and then someone else at the table will make a comment like "merry Christmas" to the recipient or will foolishly ask the gift-giver, "What were you thinking?"

The obvious poker etiquette in this situation is to remain mum and hope the donkey delivers a similar donation to you later in the game.

Other Uses

The term gift can also be used as the verb 'to gift', as in, "Wow I have a massive stack in the Sunday Million, some donk just gifted me his chips!"
